Black Unicorn combines the imagery of the “dark horse” and the “unicorn.” The dark horse symbolizes unseen strength and the potential to emerge unexpectedly, while the unicorn represents rarity, purity, and spirituality. Visually, the work incorporates a steampunk-inspired science-fiction aesthetic, bringing these qualities together in a direct and powerful sculptural form. Beyond its outward appearance, the overall structure also presented significant challenges in terms of stability and proportion.
